2024 VT Day of Percussion
Virginia Tech Day of Percussion
On March 23, I had the opportunity to take part in the Virginia Tech Day of Percussion sponsored by the Virginia chapter of the Percussive Arts Society. During the weekend, I took first place in the High School Solo Percussion Competition after playing Eric Sammut’s Four Rotations for Marimba, Rotations II and IV.

I also had the pleasure of playing in the Virginia All-Star Percussion Ensemble on pieces directed by both Drs. Annie Stevens, from Virginia Tech and Justin Alexander, from Virginia Commonwealth university. I also had the chance to attend masterclasses by Doug Howard, formerly with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, discussing multiple auxillary percussion techniques, and Lamon Lawhorn, from Virginia State University, on drum set.
This was a very successful event and I would recommend attending any similar PAS events wherever you may find them.
