2024 DCI Season
Spirit of Atlanta

Joining the marimba line and returning to Spirit of Atlanta, Derek and the corps presented their program Creatures

2023 DCI Season
Spirit of Atlanta

When returning for his second season in DCI, Spirit of Atlanta made their return to competition with Up, Down, and All Around

Other activities

Derek participates in several other activites throughout school and the community.

  • Musical Theatre

    Performed with 2025 All-Virginia Musical Theatre in A Chorus Line, and with Spotswood High School Musical Theatre in Into the Woods (winter 2025), Anastasia (winter 2024), Mean Girls (fall 2023), Grease (winter 2023).

  • Rockingham County Indoor Percussion

    Was a founding member of SHS Indoor Percussion in 2021 which has now grown across the school division in 2022 and 2023, and soon returning to competition in 2025.

  • Eagle Scout

    Acheived the rank of Eagle Scout with Scouts BSA in Nov 2024. Part of Troop 42 in Harrisonburg, Virginia

  • SHS Academics

    Maintains a GPA above 4.0 through multiple Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment classes.
